Bad – I'm lucky I got to this website.
Okay – I only use the computer once in a while.
Good – I do my homework, play games, and communicate with friends on the computer almost every day.

Tell us about your job

How did you get your job?
I sent my résumé into a minority recruitment program at IBM called Project View. You had to be a minority, computer major, and have a GPA of at least 3.0. IBM flew me to Santa Monica, CA, for two days of interviews with IBM managers around the country.

What are the best and worst parts of your job?

The best part of my job is the flexibility. I do not have set hours. This allows me to pursue other activities, such as working on my second master's, church-related activities, and volunteering to speak at elementarty/middle/high schools. The worst part of my job is being called an expert in a field that is ever-changing.

What perks or other tangible benefits do you get?
Cash awards and travel, stock options, certificates, flexibility, and community service opportunities.

What [school] subjects do you use at work?
Advanced computer skills, math, communication skills, and problem-solving skills

Getting to where you are now

Who inspired you growing up?
My parents. They worked hard to give us things we wanted. My mother is the picture of sacrifice. She often would go without so that my sister and I could be in activities and have material things.

What critical choices did you make growing up that helped you get to where you are today?
To do well in school. My parents were big on education.
