Tell us about your job.

Please elaborate on what you like about your job.
I like my job because it gives the opportunity to learn something new everyday. I also get to interact with individuals from various engineering backgrounds.

In addition, I participate in the Leadership Development Program Council Meetings and many Process Improvement Initiatives

What perks and benefits do you get?

* I was accepted into Johns Hopkins University Graduate School ... without taking the GRE AND Lockheed Martin helps me pay for my masters degree.

* I have the opportunity to attend Leadership Development Conferences in other states. This past summer, I attended a conference in Keystone, Colorado.

* Every 9-12 months for the next 3 years, I will have the opportunity to rotate to a new job function within the company.

* My first rotation was a software developer and now I am a software safety engineer.

Getting to where you are now

Who inspired you growing up?
My mom was a big inspiration to me growing up. She pushed me to be the best that I could be.

I have also had some great mentors. (I recommend YOU go find some, they can make a huge difference).

BUT, I do push MYSELF.

As I said, I have issues with reading comprehension. In order for me to understand what I am reading it, I have to read it 3 or more times. This still continues to be an issue for me; however I work hard at overcoming it.

I won't let it hold me back.

I really took advantage of internships growing up as well.  For me, it was a matter of pushing it to go and find them ... so many good internship programs are out there, but they don't come looking for you.  You have to go find and earn them.  One program, called INROADS was great. (Check out INROADS for internships)

INROADS was a big stepping to stone for the job that I have now. All of my experiences made me the person that I am today.

Also, Pay more attention in school. I always thought to myself "I am not going to need this stuff in the real world?" but the truth is somehow, someway things always seem to shift back to something that I experienced while in school.

I am where I am today because I was assertive and determined. Every internship or program that I applied for, I got, because the interviewer always would say that they were very impressed with my determination.
